Sierra de Gredos Regional Park

The Gredos Regional Park (Parque Regional de la Sierra de Gredos) covers 86,236ha of the central Gredos mountains. All of the major Gredos peaks are found within the Park including the highest, Pico Almanzor (2,590mtrs). The park is located in the South of Castilla y León and encompasses a huge range of terrain and scenery. The area’s characteristics were formed by glacial erosion, which has left stunning lakes, cirques, gorges, knife-edged ridges, crags, granite boulders and moraine deposits.

There are two information centres (Casa del Parque), one is situated just outside Hoyos del Espino and the other on the south side in Guisando. Both of these can provide information abou the park and maps.
There are many routes walking routes that criss-cross the park. One of those includes Gran Recorrido Walk from Valencia to Lisbon which traverses Gredos.

More than 240 catalogued vertebrate species: barbels, salamanders, imperial eagle. This is the domain of the Capra Hispánica (wild goat).

The vegetation is within the Gredos Regional Park is varied and includes broom, oaks, popular, alder, birch and pines.
