Overview
The small pine forest of Hoyocasero is situated to the South of the province of Ávila and sits between the sierras of Gredos and Paramera. It covers 150ha and although small it is extremely beautiful. Its ecological interest lies in the fact this forest contains plant species which are typical of the iberian, Mediterranean and mountain biographical regions.

Geology
Tectonic fault is responsible for the main features of the relief. El Pinar de Hoyocasero. El Pinar de Hoyocasero is located in one of the trenches created by the tectonic movement.

Animals/Birds
Birds of prey are plentiful. With booted eagles, buzzards and black kites nesting in the trees. Lizards and snakes are also abundant.

Plants
The dominant tree species is the Scots pine, of which there are some excellent examples. The pine forest is surrounded by a belt of Pyrenean oaks.
