Los Enebrales Natural Area

Sierras Subbéticas Natural Park

The Los Enebrales Natural Area has a diverse series of habitats.  These include sand dunes, beach and woods, including a juniper grove.  The total protected area is around 160ha.

There are plenty of footpaths which take the visitor through the pine woods and into the sand dunes and beach.  There is also a cycleway which runs from the western end of Punta Umbria all the way to La Bota Beach.

The pinewoods are home to some reptiles and smaller species of mammals.  Some of the birds found here include nightjars, goldfinches and hoopes. There is a large colony of chameleons around the sand dunes.

The sand dunes of The Playa de los Enebrales are home to juniper trees.  Other vegetation found in the natural area include stone and black pines and the wild herbs thyme and rosemary.
