Sierras Subbéticas Natural Park

Overview
The Laguna del Conde is a seasonal saline lake located in the Cordoba province.  It is sometimes referred to as Laguna Salobral (Salty Lake).  It helps to provide an important feeding and breeding site for migrating birds during the winter and spring migration periods.

Walking
A disused railway line called Vía Verde of the Subbética makes it possible to walk or cycle to the lake from Luque (its approximately 4.8km).

Animals/Birds
During winter, the lake is used by many ducks such as shovellers, wigeons and shelducks.  As well as providing an important feeding area for many other birds including flamingos, grey herons, black-winged stilts and avocets.

Plants
Due to its saline nature the lake provides an ideal habitat for salt tolerant vegetation such as glasswort.
