Aigüestortes and Estany de Sant Maurici National Park
The National Park of Aigüestortes is the only National Park in Catalonia. It is a mountainous area in the Spannish Pyrenees and contains some of the most spectacular scenery in the Pyrenees. Aigüestortes National Park and Lake Sant Maurici lie between the rivers Noguera Pallaresa and Noguera Ribagorzana in the Catalonia Pyrenees. It has a surface area of 10,500ha and belongs to the nature regions called the valleys of Espot and Boi. The park is dominated by water and mountains with rivers, lakes and waterfalls all shaping the rocks which in turn are visually softened by lush forests of fir, silver birch and beech.
 
Cap de Creus National Park
The Creus Cape Peninsula is one of the largest natural protected reserves in Catalonia covering nearly 14,000ha and is the first marine and mainland park in the country. The National Park is located in the easternmost part of the Iberian Peninsula and, at the same time, at the Mediterranean extreme of the Axial Pyrenees. There are three natural sites of national interest: Cap Gros-Cap de Creus to the North, Punta Falconera-Cap Norfeu to the South, and Serra de Rodes to the West.
 
Montseny National Park
The Montseny National Park is located approximately 100 kilometres to the north of Barcelona. It is a spectacularly beautiful area which is mountainous area and has peaks rising to over 1,700m and covers 30,120 hectares. The differences in altitude and climate provide the idea habitat for a hugely diverse number of species or flora and fauna. These habitats range from Mediterranean and Central European forests, up to sub alpine habitats, with moors, farm land and streams.
 
Parc Natural de la Zona Volcanica de la Garrotxa
The National Park of the La Garrotxa volcanic area lies in the Catalan pre-Pyrenees, in semi-mountainous land. It covers 119 square kilometres. This beautiful and unique area includes thirty extinct volcanoes cones and their lava flows. Included in the Natural Park are another 26 nature reserves which are more strictly preserved.
 
Parc Natural del Delta del Ebre
The Natural Park of Ebre Delta is located in the Southern most part of Catalonia where the River Ebre and the Mediterranean meet. It is made up of rice fields, plains and sand dunes. Covering 7,800 hectares, the park is divided into lagoons, islands and peninsulas. It is the 2nd largest wetland in the western Mediterranean and is important for not only birds but along agriculture and in particular rice production.
 
Parc Natural del Aiguamolls de l'Emporda
The Natural Park of Aiguamolls de l’Empordà, covers 478 ha and is found between Rodes mountains to the north and the Fluvià River to the south. The Aiguamolls is actually three reserves. The Estanys reserve consists largely of cane fields, floodplains and bullrushes. The Llaunes reserve has coastal lakes, saltmarshes and dunes whilst the Illa de Caramany reserve in the centre of the Fluvia is a hub for nesting birds.These reserves are particularly important sites migratory birds.
